i want a divorce

random thought: i'm divorcing my hairdresser.

i went to the hairdresser yesterday to get my hair dyed. now here's the thing... i wanted it to look like a different color. there's nothing wrong with my hair color, really. it's just that i am getting bored with it. so i wanted a different color. and so i made an appointment with the hairdresser. ok. so i've been going to this hairdresser all my life. not because she's great, but because she's my mother's friend. she used to work in a salon in my hometown. she was the main hairdresser in the salon, but when she went on maternity leave for a year, people really fell in love with her replacement. so when she came back, she wasnt the best one in the shop anymore. she eventually got less and less people asking for her and decided to leave. it caused her much more headache than it was worth. so then she opened up shop in her own house (secretly of course... so she doesn't have to pay for a business permit in a residential area and all that jazz). anyway, she only charges a little bit more than what her products are worth or whatever, i dont know how she gauges and she never actually tells us a price for anything... we just hand her some money and if it's too much, she'll give some back. haha. anyway, since i finally started caring about what my hair looked like... which was in high school... i haven't ever gotten exactly what i wanted from her. i'll be very explicit before she does anything... and after an extended period of time in which she'll either try to talk me out of what i want, or try to change my mind in some way, she'll finally seem to understand. and of course, i dont know exactly how to cut or color hair, so i dont know what part of the process comes when or anything like that. anyway, i never wind up being able to fix it midway because i dont know what she's doing... and then i dont leave happy. especially with prom hair. i had lots of prom hair done by her and i NEVER got exactly what i wanted. especially the one year i wanted it completely crazy and all over the place. ARG!
anyway... that was a tangent... back to the original story... so i went to her yesterday to get my hair dyed a different color. now... i wanted to keep my hair color underneath and i wanted significant chunks of a lighter color and then regular small highlights of a lighter color. i explained this over the phone and again at her place to her. she seemed to understand. when it came down to it, tho... i didn't get what i wanted. again. instead of doing one color all over and another color in a few places... i got basically one color in a few places. you can't very well at all inside... but out in the sun, it does look lighter. so at least i got SOMETHING for my money... but not what i wanted. so i'm going to deal with it for a little bit and research some new salons. and then i'm going to get it redone... hopefully i'll actually get what i want. we'll see.

anyway... i got to spend a lot of time with cube today, that was fun. we went to the mall and stuff. he bought a book to read too. it's based on the halo game he plays all the time. but oh well, it's a book, so that's good. but i forgot to look for my book while i was there. i want to get the sequel to the last book i read, running with scissors. the sequel is called dry. it's by augusten borroughs. the first one was really good tho, and i really want to continue hearing about his life, haha. so i want the second one. forgot to look tho. so it'll have to wait.
