random thought: a life is over only so that a new one may emerge...

wow. i was informed earlier today that one of my old high school friends was killed in a water skiing accident on the 29th. jay mellor. jay and i grew up together. we attended the same schools all our lives until high school graduation. i still saw him around after that, but i haven't actually talked to him in years. but he was one of those guys that always made funny jokes and always wanted you to have fun. he was always including of people while still being exclusive. if that makes sense. he was a great guy for the most part. and since our last names are both m, we were always near each other in home room and if we ever had classes together.

it's so sad to think that he was only my age. and his life is over. he was even on vacation with his family. which is worse. because what if they saw it happen? that's a horrible thing for anyone to witness, but to see your own flesh and blood die? i can't even imagine the pain his family must be going through. i'm not feeling so good myself and i haven't talked to him in years! it's just the fact that someone from down the street, someone you used to play with, someone who you teased and who teased you... is gone. forever. someone who drove around a piece of crap car with a "princeton university" sticker on the back - not because he attended school there, but because he wanted people to think that all his money went to princeton so he couldnt get a better car. someone who had a brilliant idea of draining a juice box with a needle only to fill it back up with alcohol to bring on our senior class trip.

it's a sad sad event when a young person dies so tragically. all my thoughts and prayers go out to jay and his family. he will be missed.

RIP Jay Mellor
