random thought: friday five

1. Would you say that you're good at keeping in touch with people?
eh, not really. lol. i kind of let people get away from me. i was really good at keeping in touch with my friend jen in high school tho. she moved after our freshman year, but we still hung out with each other i'd say like once a month. but since high school, i haven't really talked to her (even tho she goes to a college about half an hour away from mine). and i dont really talk with other friends from high school too much either. makes me feel like a bad person - but then i remember... hey, they're not exactly trying to keep in contact with you either, are they?

2. Which communication method do you usually prefer/use: e-mail, telephone, snail mail, blog comments, or meeting in person? Why?
well, it depends on who it is really. i do snail mail with a couple friends from high school. i also talk to some of them via telephone occasionally. i communicate with cube mostly through im and occasional telephone. but for people who are here on campus with me - i'd much rather meet up with them in person. i very rarely hold long conversations with people via im and i dont often email people to converse... just to set up an in-person meeting time. =)

3. Do you have an instant messenger program? How many? Why/why not? How often do you use it?
yeah, i use aim every day and yahoo occasionally. it's a fast and easy (and free) way to have conversations. and it's the best way to talk to cube because then we can talk bascially all day long without having to worry about phone bills or anything like that.

4. Do most of your close friends live nearby or far away?
ummmm, my high school friends live about a half hour away from me when we're all home. however, this is becomming increasingly more difficult to estimate because we're nearing that time in our lives when all of us are heading in our own personal directions and more likely than not - i will not be living any where near them soon. as for my college friends... none of them live near me. it sucks.

5. Are you an "out of sight, out of mind" person, or do you believe that "distance makes the heart grow fonder"?
hmmm, well, it depends i guess. i definitely dont feel like when my friends are out of sight that they're out of mind. but "distance" (altho i think the quote is absence) doesn't always make the heart grow fonder either. i mean, it makes it better to see the person after you haven't seen them in a while... BUT, its definitely no comparison to seeing them every day. i'd much rather see them every day.

by the way - there were no friday five questions posted this week, so i just dipped into their archive for a set. i got these from september 20, 2002
