random thought: friday five

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
hmmmm, i dont really have a favorite. i like all kinds of music really, so i dont know that i could pick just one. i'm a big fan of avril, madonna, christina a. (i wont attempt to butcher the spellings of her last name). i really like their music, i think they make good songs, songs you can dance to, let your emotions out to.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
wow. i really dont know. i dont really hate anyone i dont think. i dislike some songs here and there, but i dont think i dislike an artist in particular... just one of their songs.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
what kind of question is this? i can't possibly know whether or not i would like any famous person if they were not famous because i can't get an accurate representation of who they are as a person through the media. i did not know these people before they became famous, so i can't possibly know what they are like sans fame. i would like to think that i would enjoy these people, but there is absolutely no way i could know for sure.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
no. i was supposed to go to a concert with cube once... but it fell on a weird weekend or something and i wound up not going. no biggie tho. doesn't matter. it's all good.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
this is a touchy subject... obviously. i love downloading music. i love not having to pay for a whole albumn if i just want one song off of it. however - if i really like something, i do still buy the albumn. for instance: if i download a song by some artist and i really like it, i try to find more songs to download by that artist. if i like all those songs too - i investigate their cd online and see if there are any i missed downloading. if i've downloaded/listened to all the songs and like MOST of them (by most i mean at least three quarters of the cd) then i will consider buying the cd. i used to belong to columbia house - and i bought tons of cds. but then i stopped getting the things one day, don't know why, lol.

i really have no feelings for or against the RIAA and it's pursuit to stop free downloading of music. i like downloading music, but i stopped downloading in may of 2003... and i know that a lot of people abuse the free downloads and many people i know also download movies (which i think is absolutely wrong and i've never downloaded anything but music). so i dont really know - i have feelings for both sides... so i guess i'm neutral. but as of may 2003, i am purchasing cds. i guess that's all that really matters.
